Canvey Wick 2021

My last visit to Canvey Wick was in 2008 not all that long after it was declared a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The part we visited then is now part of Rosscommon Way so I had never visited the actual area I did this time.

This time I did not walk but was on my mobility scooter so was not sure what to expect or where I could go but I was pleasantly surprised. From whizzing (at 4 miles an hour) down the old concrete roads to tackling the narrow very bumpy pathways between the sites of some of the tanks. A bit hair-raising at times with holes, sand and dips I envisaged myself getting beached or stuck down a hole. But I made it and did wheelies round the circles of the old tanks before setting off on the next precarious pathway not knowing if I would make it out the other side.

I had a great three hours over there barely seeing a soul. Got some great photos and had a great time.
