Covid Memorial at the Labworth Green.
Saturday 30th October was a thoroughly wet and windy day as we stood in the Labworth Gardens waiting for the dedication service to begin. The Town Mayor, Town and Borough Councillors along the Rebecca Harris MP and local residents braved the weather while Rev Marion Walford undertook the service and blessed the memorial to those on Canvey who unfortunately haven’t survived the Covid 19 pandemic. Special mention was made of Bev Stevens, who originally put the idea forward of a Covid memorial. The Memorial was unveiled by Town Council Mayor Barry Palmer. There are also 2 planted raised flower beds so visitors can sit in pretty surroundings while fondly remembering those they may have lost to Covid 19.
