Filmed by my brother Stephen in 1977 – put to the Canvey Island sounds of Dr Feelgood’s ‘Because You’re Mine’ from their second album Malpractice – Buy it!

Look out for: Queens Silver Jubilee Carnival Parade with ABC Pianos at Hope Road, an Elephant, Clown, The Road House Cafe, Camels, Yamburg Road, the Casino, Monaco, Labworth, Goldmine, the Smash Robots, Hoffmann Circus, Roberts Plant, Minis, Police Granada, Fire Engine, the Coop etc.

  • I recognised several people on the floats and one of the two horse riders was Jacky Barns (nee Healy) I think the other one was Sarah Lawrence. I put a few still photos of this on the Carnival page last year.

  • 1.30 red robin majorettes, absolutely loved doing the carnivals and canvey was always one of my favourites. many happy memories, thanks for sharing
