Smart young Canvey brownies helped to bring comfort the blind.
The kind hearted youngsters from the 7th Canvey Island Brownies collected old Smartie tubes and 5p pieces. They also gave up some of their spare time to lend a hand to shoppers In Basildon’s Savacentre hypermarket. And all the hard work netted £250 for the Castle Point Guide Dogs for the Blind.
The money will help pay for some of the coats of training a puppy to become a guide dog. The Brownies chose the charity after hearing a talk on the valuable work it does providing a vital lifeline for blind people.
