Toys from Kuwait arrive in England

19th March 1953

From a collection belonging to the late David Evans.

This is totally new to us. Canvey children were sent toys from Kuwait after the floods of 1953. This is a photo originally sent by BOAC and shows the arrival of toys donated by the children of Ahmadi for the children of Canvey Island.

Al Ahmadi is a town founded in 1946 with the discovery of oil there, located in Al Ahmadi Governorate, Kuwait. Al Ahmadi is a district located in the south of the country. It contains the headquarters for the Kuwait National Petroleum Company and Kuwait Oil Company with many of its refineries located there.

With grateful thanks to Ed Simpson for sending this our way.
