Busy Bees give their minders a buzz too

Hold it: The Busy Bees keep fairly still for a moment

Fun and games are the order of the day for these excited youngsters who channel high spirits into a whole range of activities.

The happy tots all go to Busy Bees playgroup at Our Lady of Canvey Church hall three mornings a week. The group was started by friends Ann-Marie Dennis and Ann Scanlon just over four years ago.

It replaced another playgroup at the hall.

Mrs Dennis said: “When we opened the playgroup there was a real need for one in this area although the situation is different now.” But the playgroup still has 32 children registered, all between two-and-a-half and five. Mrs Dennis said: “We have all the usual paints, modelling clay and Lego on offer as well as trampolines and slides.”

A shed fire in August meant that a lot of the group’s equipment was damaged beyond repair.

Mrs Dennis added: “Most of the equipment we lost was used outdoors and fortunately we are not missing it at he moment We will be able to replace it with the insurance money.”

The youngsters always have enough to keep them occupied and Mrs Dennis admits she is often rushed off her feet. But she also admits she enjoys it. She added: “I love working with the children and while it can be hectic, it is very rewarding.”

The playgroup is open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9.30am-noon.

Mrs Dennis has all the details on 0268 680889.
