Ernest Edward Norman was Chairman of CIUDC from 1958-1959, he was born in Bethnal Green in 1903 to William and Clara Norman. William was a Watchman and they lived in Cleveland Road. Ernest is not with his family in 1911, he was in the John Horniman Children’s Convalescent Home in Worthing.
Ernest married Daisy Sendall in 1926 and three children followed Dennis, Daisy and Ernest. The last, Ernest, was born in 1933 in Leyton.
We have little about him unfortunately but we do know the family were on the island living in the relatively new Dutch Village in the 1939 Register living at 12 Haarlem Road.
The only other information we have about Ernest is that he died in Norfolk in 1981.
