  • I remember going to this shop regularly the local children in this village used to take our glass bottles and be given a few pennies for returning them. Then we could choose sweets from the shop as a treat. Some of the older cheeky children soon cottoned on they kept the returned bottles in crates at the back, so used to take bottles from the crates to hand in just to have money for sweets. Such happy memories of my childhood living in Haarlem Road, Canvey with my mum, dad, brother and sister.
