Kingsley Hall School 1946

From Echo cutting

The class of 1946 and happy memories for Patty McKenzie (circled)

From an Echo cutting from 1984

It was a great class, that group taught at Canvey by Miss Price in the second half of the 1940s.

Such pals that many of them kept in touch and two years ago they held a reunion. But there were some missing faces and now Mrs Patty Mckenzie wants to see just how many she can trace. She was Patty Matthews in those days, the daughter of the Matthews half of Matthews and Charles, the estate agents in Furtherwick Road.

Now, Mrs McKenzie of The Driveway, Canvey, is looking back at those schooldays at Kingsley Hall School in Central Wall Road, Canvey.

She remembers with affection the headmistress, Miss Gwendoline Evans, and Miss Price, her teacher. “We were a happy crowd,” she said. The school held many happy memories for her. Her sister and three cousins also went here.
