Hello there island dwellers
I hope you can help me. Inspector Poireau required here !!
I am looking to discover anything I can about an individual named George Roy Greig who was a long time Canvey Island resident. He was born in 1918 and died in Canvey Island in 1975 and was a barman at a Canvey Island Pub or hotel.. I don’t know which one.
The reason for the enquiry is that he may have been my biological father. I was born in 1954 and adopted but only quite recently had access to my adoption papers and have taken a DNA test which links me to George Roy Greig.
My mother was a musician and entertainer called Brenda Catherall ( nee Paton) who performed music hall songs so maybe she performed at one of the pubs or hotels ?. Her husband John Paton and her third daughter Catherine Paton died in Canvey Island in 2000 and 2012 respectively so somewhere there should be some records of them
Any help you might be able to offer would be most welcomed as I have been searching for details of my father for many years and I am now 66 years old.
With best wishes
Andrew

Hi Gary,
thank you so much for responding.
I have contacted the Archive manager to ask if she could send you my email address so that we could make direct contact.
After all these years I would be fascinated to learn more
