Uncle Sams Minstrels were a company of entertainers led by Uncle Sam aka Edward Parker. Uncle Sam had troups playing from Canvey to Malden. He started up on Canvey in 1933 until the war. Many of the old islanders had memories of the concerts performed around Shell Beach.
