Before the Essex and Suffolk Water company took over our water was supplied by the Southend Waterworks. They had been supplying water to those households who had piped water since the well in the Village was closed down.
The bill from 1959 shown here is for £1, 6 shillings and 3 pence which I think is roughly £1.30 today!
