I played for Mornington Boys shortly after the family moved to Canvey in 1971. I believe I played with the under 13’s and under 15’s between 1973 and 1976. From my fading memory I only ever remember playing in an all blue kit with our home ground at the Paddocks. John Keeley, who went on to play professionally and is now goalkeeping coach at Portsmouth, was in the same team. The only club I can recall playing was Concorde Rangers and I believe it was always a bit of a grudge match, if such a thing exists at that age. Nice to see the club is still going even though I haven’t lived on Canvey since the early 80’s. Would be nice if anyone else had memories of that time.

Hi Glenn, were you playing at the same time as me? I can remember Clayton Brewster and maybe Dean Buckmaster; I think they also played in the same age group as me. Checking again the home pitch would have been at King Georges playing field not The Paddocks.
