On the pages of the album containing these H Reed photos of the Church and School was written the following:-

Beneath those rugged elms, that yew trees shade,
Where heaves the turf in many a mouldering heap,
Each in his narrow cell forever laid
The rude forefathers of the hamlet sleep.

Which is in fact an verse from Thomas Gray’s “Elegy Written in a Country Church-Yard”
