Transport Museum under water in 2012.
The day water gushed from a broken main.
One day in July 2012 a water main burst just down the road from the museum and suddenly everything was awash. It might only have been roughly 6 inches of water but the result can still be found today. An example is the rotten skirting boards and cracked render which were removed during recent preparations for the museum’s internal refurbishment. The photos were found on a DVD in a folder from the museum archive and we are currently inquiring as to who the photographer was so that the appropriate credit can be added.
Rainwater creeping over the threshhold at the museum's back door.
The inspection pit gradually filling up.
Reflections in the flood water,
Pumping away the excess water.
