Rendezvous Club Inaugural Meeting

3rd December 2006

When we arrived at Canvey Heights we were presented with membership cards and a map containing many of our points of interest and the following itinerary for the afternoon. I think it was that day the trip on the open top bus in the dark was freezing.

ITINERARY

Today’s first walk is a test of the itinerary below. If is taking too long you may of course leave at any time! Depending on the weather, the plan is as follows:

2pm meet at gates of Canvey Heights. Up the hill past Kings Caravan Park. At the fork in road turn left. The pathway around Canvey Heights will then be followed all the way round, taking in views towards Benfleet Creek, Leigh, the Yacht Club, Can Point, and Canvey Island.

On leaving the park we will then follow the concrete pathway with Kings on the right and Small Gains the left. After going past the bus stop, we will bear to the left around the edge of the playing field.

We will go down Mitchells Avenue and reach the High Street, turning left we will go towards Leigh Beck and will reach the Transport Museum on the right. A number of people will then be able to have a ride on a vintage bus while the rest of the group are free to retire to the Admiral Jellicoe pub- a favourite haunt Canvey group Dr Feelgood.
