Oh baby- it was a great day for charity.

Baby days came round again for Canvey fundraisers when they leapt back into their prams for charity.

They zoomed round a one-mile course scooping £1,500 for Canvey’s Thompson Physiotherapy Unit and other island causes. The pram race was organised by Canvey Rotary Club whose foundation committee chairman Mr Stephen Blyde revealed a major snag. He said:” The biggest problem was getting enough prams. People scoured the rubbish dumps and everywhere to find them. Nowadays people don’t use prams. They tend to have buggies and the average house doesn’t have a pram tucked away in the loft anymore. We will be running an event like this every year.”Canvey Conservatives raised the highest sponsorship total of £450.
