Greens Stores

Taken in the 1930s

Who can tell us the name of the proprietor?

Next to the Sweet Shop was my Grandparents’ Greengrocers and next to them was Greens Stores. Across the Road was The Clock House, selling all kinds of fancy goods and next to this was The Express Laundry run by The Byron family, the laundry being collected and delivered by pony and trap.

  • The manager (on the left) is my uncle Horrie Jarvis. He lived in Mayland Ave with his wife Alice and one daughter and three sons. Alice was my Mum’s sister. His mother lived in a bungalow near the Lake. At one time he was manager of Greens Stores at Furtherwick Road, next door to Cockle Jack’s.
