It looks like the junction of Denham Road with Long Road. You can make out the British Legion hall behind the bungalow with a veranda, which I believe was “Denham Lodge”.

Yes it is Denham Road and I believe the man in the boat was my father, Peter Mitchell, trying to rescue his parents who lived at 14 Denham Road. He thought they had been rescued but they were sheltering in their loft. He rescued the Blainey family including 1 month old Janice, whilst someone else rescued his parents
