Canvey News Dutch Island Chronicle

We have recently been given copies of two newspapers, dated 1904 nos 4 and 6, by Ray Woodberry.

They give no indication of who the publishers were other than perhaps a connection with Hester. We strongly suspect that the paper, which only ran for a short time, was instigated by Hester and written and published by Augustus Daly who wrote Hester's booklet 'The History of Canvey Island' c1901-2. Daly was a writer and journalist and the writing in these papers has a similarity in style to the booklet.
