My flooding memories

For illustration purposes

We were woken up very early to be told the sea wall had given way. (I was 5 at the time ) My dad, who was a bus driver, went off to help transport people off the Island.  Me and my sister went to the house in the next road that had steps outside going to the loft, there was a lot of people up there how it did not fall in I don’t know.

The next morning one of the men down the road had been building a boat that he pulled down the road and transported to the main road, I was holding the dogs lead and he tried to pull me in the water. We went to King Johns School in Benfleet and then to a distant relative in Kents Hill Road, to me it was an adventure.
